Egypt. Ahmed Shobair suspended over Ahmed Refaat crisis.

The board of directors of the United Media Services Company decided to terminate the contract with Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shoubair and suspend his program "With Shoubair," the company said in a statement.

The company said in a statement that "violating the professional rules and content policies of the company is unacceptable, as the United Company puts respect for the Egyptian public opinion at the top of its priorities."

The company's board of directors emphasized that "the chaos in the sports media sector requires a decisive confrontation to ensure the Egyptian citizen's right to a sports media that respects the truth and pursues honesty."

The company stressed that it "will not hesitate to deter anyone who deviates from the professional standards to which it has been committed since the beginning of its establishment."

Threats on the show

Shoubair threatened on his On Time Sport program anyone who dragged his name into the case of former Egyptian national team player Ahmed Refaat, whose death caused controversy over the factors that led to the deterioration of his health, amid accusations that the management of his club Future committed irregularities that led to psychological pressures that affected his health.

Shoubair said on his show "With Shoubair": "For the first time I will speak personally on the program, I have to, for more than 48 hours, I hear and see very many comments and videos on the subject of Ahmed Refaat, and I am not the type of person who likes to defend himself because I am not in a position of accusation."

He revealed that legal action would be taken against anyone who spoke about the matter and that Egypt's just judiciary would be the final arbiter.

Shoubair was the club's vice president at the time of these incidents, which led to accusations against him, former club president Ahmed Diab, and current president Walid Daabs, who resigned from the club's presidency two days ago against the backdrop of mounting anger in the sports street against the club's management.

Opening an investigation

The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt has announced an investigation into all circumstances and examination of all documents related to the travel of the late player Ahmed Refaat, due to the recent media reports of suspected administrative and legal irregularities surrounding the player's travel abroad.

Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy issued a decision to form a committee from the ministry's specialists to examine and review all documents of Modern Sport Club, the Egyptian Football Federation and the Egyptian Olympic Committee in this regard.

The ministry confirmed in a statement that it will announce the outcome of the investigations in this matter as soon as the work of the committees is completed and all the details and circumstances are revealed.
