In the French Cup, a Team Traveled 6,500 Kilometers Only to Suffer a Defeat by a Dozen Goals

The Golden Lion team, from the Martinique Islands in the Caribbean Sea, suffered a humiliating 12-0 defeat against Lille in the French Cup, yesterday, Saturday, halfway through a round-trip trip extending about 12,874 kilometers to play the match.

The Golden Lion team, champion of Martinique, is one of several teams belonging to overseas territories and subject to French sovereignty competing in the French Cup competitions.

The draw for the round of 64 of the French Cup pitted it against Lille, which plays in the first division of the French League and is currently ranked fifth.

Golden Lion, which competes in the provincial league, began a direct flight last Wednesday to the French capital, Paris.

Three days later, the team was unable to withstand Lille, as Canadian Jonathan David and Kosovar Edun Zegrova scored 3 goals each, while Turkish Yusuf Yazgi scored two goals in a crushing victory for the hosts, before the Golden Lion's long journey back to the island.
