Winger Jadon Sancho appears to be on his way back to his former team, Borussia Dortmund, on loan from Manchester United, according to several media reports, Thursday.
Sancho played for Dortmund from 2017 until 2021 and excelled in their ranks, which prompted United to sign him for a 5-year contract, in a deal estimated at 73 million pounds sterling.
But the 23-year-old found himself out of the first team four months ago and confined himself to training with the youth team for disciplinary reasons after he criticized his Dutch coach, Erik Ten Hag, who justified his exclusion from a match that the team lost to Arsenal 1-3 due to his poor performance in training.
On social media, Sancho said that he had been used as a "scapegoat for a long time."
The departure of the English international from the Red Devils team was expected during the current transfer period, and it appears that negotiations with his former club have achieved “significant progress,” according to what the German newspaper “Bild” reported, which expected him to join the German team on Friday in its winter camp held in Spain.
“Bild” indicated that there are “some details” remaining to complete the loan deal, which will cost Dortmund approximately 3 million euros.
Sancho scored 50 goals in 137 games in many tournaments with the German squad. He was among the most promising players in Europe, but he struggled to impose himself at United and limited himself to scoring only 12 goals in the 82 matches he played with them in all competitions.
