Milan stuns Newcastle and bids farewell to the European champions

Substitute Samuel Chukwueze scored a stunning late goal to give Milan a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park as both teams exited the Champions League.

At some point during the height of excitement in Group Six, Newcastle seemed on its way to the round of sixteen after taking the lead with Joelinton's quick goal in the first half, coinciding with Paris Saint-Germain falling behind in Germany against Borussia Dortmund.

But Milan, the seven-time champion, was much better in the second half after Newcastle lost energy and Christian Pulisic equalized for the Italian team after the hour mark from Olivier Giroud's pass.

As the two teams sought to achieve victory, Bruno Guimaraes shot a shot that bounced off the crossbar after being saved by Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, before Rafael Leao hit the post at the other end.

A brilliant counter-attack ensured victory for Milan as Chukwueze scored a goal to stun the home team's fans.

With Paris Saint-Germain drawing 1-1 with Dortmund, the leaders of the group, Milan was able to obtain a seat in the Europa League by occupying third place, while Newcastle was eliminated from European competitions by occupying last place.
