Asian Cup: Japan passes Bahrain and reaches the quarter-finals


Japan reached the quarter-finals of the Asian Football Cup, beating Bahrain 3-1, on Wednesday, at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, and continued its journey towards a record fifth title.

Ritsu Doan (31st), Takefusa Kubo (49th), and Ayase Ueda (72nd) scored Japan's goals, and goalkeeper Zion Suzuki (64 fouls against his team) scored Bahrain's goal.

Japan set a date for next Saturday at Education City Stadium with the winner of the Iran-Syria match, which will be held later at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Thus, Japan joined Australia, Tajikistan, Jordan, Qatar, Uzbekistan, and South Korea in the quarter-finals.

The quarter-matches will be held on Friday and Saturday, with the semi-finals next Tuesday and Wednesday, while the final is expected to be held on Saturday, February 10.
